BIO

With over two decades of experience as a plant scientist specializing in practical plant breeding, Pr. Berhanu Amsalu has made substantial contributions to agricultural development by releasing more than 30 distinct crop varieties. He has been deeply committed to mentoring and supervising postgraduate students, having guided and supported over 50 graduate scholars. His academic journey also includes publishing more than 60 scientific papers. In higher education, he has served as a lecturer in plant breeding and physiology and has regularly examined postgraduate students in local and regional universities. Currently, he has joined UM6P-ASARI as an Assistant Professor in Plant Breeding. His research focuses on developing crop varieties with multiple resistance (drought and salinity) through optimized crop management practices.
