BIO
Soumaya Boukrouh is an Assistant Professor at ASARI-UM6P. She received a Ph.D. in Veterinary Sciences from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of Liège, Department of Veterinary Management of Animal Resources (2023). The Ph.D. was in collaboration with the animal nutrition laboratory at the Regional Center of Agricultural Research (CRRA, Tangier) of the National Agronomic Research Institute (INRA) and was funded by the Academy of Research and Higher Education (ARES) and The Center for Partnership and Development Cooperation (PACODEL) of Belgium. She had previously graduated with a degree in Agricultural Engineering Specializing in Biotechnology and Animal Production from IAV HASSAN II in Rabat, Morocco (2017). Her work focuses on the valorisation of local and alternative feed resources to improve the productivity and quality of animal products and the resilience of livestock.
She has published 14 research papers in notorious peer-reviewed journals, such as Scientific Reports of Nature. She participated in 7 research projects, 3 of which were funded by the EU. She was chairperson in the Joint FAO-CIHEAM subnetworks on “Mediterranean Pastures and Forage Crops” and “Mountain Pastures.” She recently joined the editorial board of the International Conference on Camelids and the Turkish Journal of Range and Forage Science. She is also an active reviewer in a number of scientific journals (Small Ruminant Research, Tropical Animal and Health Production, Grass and Forage Science, Annals of Animal Science, Applied Animal Science, etc.). Overall, She has co-mentored 20 bachelors, 6 MSc., and 4 Ph.D. theses. Moreover, she is an external evaluator of research projects and Ph.D. theses. She shared results and scientific knowledge in several national and international conferences in many countries and published 33 abstracts in peer-reviewed proceedings. She also animated discussion rooms as an exchange of knowledge among stakeholders, breeders, industry, and policymakers.
