Expert in wastewater treatment, desalination, Advanced Oxidation Processes (AOP), nanomaterial technology, and photocatalysis.
Dr. Otman Abida is an Assistant Professor at Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (Morocco). He earned his B.Sc. in Chemistry in 2001 from University of Chouiab Doukali and his MSc in Materials Science in 2003, followed by a PhD in Environmental Chemistry in 2006 from University of Blaise Pascal (France). From 2008 to 2015, he conducted postdoctoral research in Nanomaterial Engineering at J. Heyrovsky Institute of Physical Chemistry (Czech Republic), University of Calgary (Canada), Wadsworth Center at SUNY (USA), and Masaryk University (Czech Republic). Between 2015 and 2017, he was a visiting professor of chemistry at Sultan Qaboos University (Oman). From 2017 to 2019, he was Scientist/Manager of the Laboratory of Environmental Engineering at the University of British Columbia (Canada). Between 2019 and 2023, he served as Assistant Professor of Chemistry at the American University of the Middle East (Kuwait).
Dr. Abida has published over 40 peer-reviewed papers on AOP wastewater treatment, membrane nanomaterials for desalination, waste management, sustainable development, photocatalysis, photochemistry, pollutant fate, nanosorbents for remediation, and kinetics of emergent pollutants. His research focuses on sustainable and circular development, green technologies for wastewater and desalination, solid waste management, and removal of emerging contaminants like PFOS and PFAS.
